Burritobut's 37 million project cars thread
Feb 10th, 2009, 7:57pm

Thought Id post a small write up on my projects for anyone interested.

1. 1uzfe swap into 1981 L-Type Celica XX

This swap is pretty near to completion. Just needs a few wads of cash thrown at it and its finished Smiley

Its running the factory w58 and diff setup and the only custom parts and the engine mounts, exhaust and bellhousing. Its an easy swap and would recommend it to anyone with a 80's rwd toyota.

Done so far...
- Engine is in
- Front rust killed (thanks brenda)
- Got factory brass top radiator recored to 50mm

Things to do...
- Kill rest of the rust (not that bad)
- Wire it in (David from supra club is helping me out big time on this one, thanks David!)
- Put gearbox setup all back together and get clutch fork pivot and master cylinder mount welded.
- New tires (will have some fun on the old ones Wink)
- May need a brake upgrade (ST165 2pot calipers)
- Get custom extractors and exhaust (matter of money and waiting to complete the rest)
- Cert

My goal for this build is a cool 350hp on a decent handling chassis and something that looks a little different.

Car in question...

2. 1981 Celica GT Rally  (26th off the production line)

My favorite favorite car.
Its running a factory 2tgeu with a t50 box in behind it. It was my first (of many) 80's celicas and is what started my love of 80's toyotas.

My plans are simple with this one. Kill ALL the rust, restore ALL the interior, paint it back to complete original (with vinals) and do some mods to the factory 2tgeu.

Im quite keen on using 4age silver top throttle bodies as I hear they are a direct bolt on, and getting a custom exhaust/extractor setup.

Ill keep an eye out for celica xx rear disc brakes (and fronts if they are bigger/better) as they will bolt in to give it a bit more stopping power.

Im very ashamed of the condition its in now Sad, but its the only thing I could do but sell it, and they aint no way its going that easy!

3. 1981 Celica ST  (22nd off the production line)

Brought this off supra_ma late last year, and has served me well as a work hack.

Its just got a little 1s 1800 carby and auto box but its bloody fun to drive!

Havent really done much to it but tidy up a few things and drop a fresh 1s in.

I would like to convert this one to a manual with a 1ggte OR a 1ggeu and make it into a cheap track/rally car, but it would be a while off Wink

4. 1987 Mazda RX7 FC3S

Haha its not a mistake, this ones actually NOT a celica!

I picked this bargain up just before new years, and it soaked up all my saved cash for my V8 project, DOH!

Unfortunately its an automatic, but tomorrow im setting off to Waiuku to pick up the full manual conversion kit I won on tardme.

For now my plans are just to restore everything, keep it tidy, maintain it, and make sure the internals stay INSIDE the engine >_<.

I have a front mount intercooler (referred to fmic from now) that I purchased from sleepy_dc (cheers) and just need to get the piping for that to go in.

So far....
- Ultra tidy up/clean (been sitting for 5 years!)
- Fixed boost leak
- Converted back to factory steering wheel
- Switched to pod filter
- Removed aircon and other unnecessary space consuming items
- Relocated boost gauge
- Cut springs in the back
- Lubed, polished, and fixed alot of things

Things to do
- Convert to manual
- Kill little bits of rust
- Keep cleaning
- Replace and repair anything
- More cleaning
- Clean

Long term things to do...
- FMIC - just need piping
- Electric radiator fans (then I can remove that crappity smacking cowling)
- Deloom
- New wheels (found the perfect ones on tardme)
- Slightly lower
- Other things I cant think of now - blame Raquel lol

Some people may believe that going to classes should be optional, but I disagree. I don’t understand how university students can expect to learn anything if they don’t attend classes. Personal experience can help people learn about themselves and the world outside the classroom, but when it comes to learning about academic subjects, students need to be in class.

In class they receive the benefit of the teacher’orld of Warcraft power leveling s knowledge. The best teachers do more than just go over the material in than class textbook. They draw their students into discussion of the material. They present opposing points of view. They schedule guest speakers to come, give the students additional information, or show documentary films on the subject.

Also, last chaos gold attending classes on any subject teaches more than just facts. It teaches students how to learn, how to absorb information and then apply what they’ve learned to other situations. Their teacher is the best one to help them with these skills. They can’t learn them just by reading the textbook.

This is different from what they did in secondary school. Here they’re with people from different backgrounds and experiences. In this situation, they learn how to handle working with people different from themselves to achieve a common goal.
